The Librarians S04E11 "And the Trial of the One" Recap

Loud bells begin to chime in the Library which indicates that the tethering needs to happen right away. Jenkins is able to get the bells to stop ringing for now but he tells them that the Library is beginning to untether from reality and the only way to stop it is to perform the tethering ceremony as soon as possible. The Librarians struggle to decide who will be the one to tether themselves since they do not take the decision to become immortal lightly.

Cassandra finds a spell, The Ritual of the One, and asks Stone to read it in the hopes that it will be able to decide which one of them is the best and in turn be the one to be tethered to the Library. They initially believe it didn't work but all of them are eventually brought to the Trial grounds, where the Library decrees a battle to the death that will leave only one Librarian alive. The Library has taken Jenkins captive and his life will be forfeited if the Librarians refuse to participate.

Cassandra, Stone, and Ezekiel are each transported to their worst nightmares. While in there, they encounter versions of their friends recast as enemies. They are pushed to forget one another and then emerge without memories of one another. Each Librarians is convinced that the only way to save Jenkins is to kill the others in order to be the first to hit a gold button. A violent battle ensues between the three of them until Eve intervenes and talks them down, convincing them not to murder one another.

Jenkins is freed but the Library still kills him. The Librarians are all outraged by this move so they all resign. With the Librarianship now vacant, Eve is devastated. Nicole Noone visits Eve and tells her that this was all part of her plan. Now that the Library has been abandoned by the Librarians and remains untethered, it fades out of reality and Eve is left alone in a washed-out alternate world.

Black Lightning S01E03 "LaWanda: The Book of Burial" Recap

The community is reeling after LaWanda's death. Reverend Holt is organising a peace march to make a stand against the 100's violent criminal activities. Jefferson and Inspector Henderson are concerned that the peace march will only cause more trouble and risk to the community but Holt will not be swayed. Meanwhile, Anissa is out at a junkyard experimenting with her newfound abilities. Anissa later meets Grace Choi at the library while reading up on genetic mutations and the two hit it off.

Jefferson is further stressed when he finds out that his youngest daughter Jennifer plans to have sex with her boyfriend. Anissa attends a party Grace has invited her to but her on-again/off-again girlfriend arrives and angrily accuses her of cheating. The pair end up breaking up for good, leaving Anissa free to explore both her new abilities and the attraction she feels to Grace.

Tobias has a meeting with Lady Eve, after which he instructs one of his henchmen to attack and unleash a massacre on the peace march in exchange for Lala's place in the ranks. Black Lightning stand watching over the peace march until the gunman emerges. He is able to stop the majority of bullets from hitting the people. But Tobias is watching nearby and orders Syonide to shoot Black Lightning. The bullet instead hits Reverend Holt and goes through him into Khalil, Jennifer's boyfriend. Black Lightning needs to flee, while law enforcement arrive to handle the scene.

Jefferson heads to the hospital and sees the news reports that have mixed opinions on Black Lightning, with the peace marchers being more favourable in their opinions of him than Inspector Henderson. Back at the tailor shop, Gambi deleted evidence that would show that Black Lightning was the one responsible for the reverend and Khalil being shot. Lynn assures Anissa that she will support her, after which Jefferson and Jennifer tell them that Reverend Holt is recovering but will never walk again. Jefferson comforts his family, while observing more news stories that show that Black Lightning's actions have inspired other peace marchers.

Black Lightning airs on Tuesdays on the CW at 9/8c.

The Punisher S01E13 "Memento Mori" Recap

Lieberman and Madani bring a badly wounded Castle to Madani's father, a doctor. They can't bring him to the hospital because then police will surely ask questions and take him into custody, putting him at risk of being hunted down by Billy before he is ready to fight him off. One of Frank's many injuries is a broken rib that has puncture his lung but Madani's father is able to drain the fluid so Frank can breathe again. While Madani's father continues to tend to Frank's wounds, Billy patches up his own injuries from the fight. Billy kills some agents that were sent to bring him in.

Frank leaves Madani's place after being patched up and learning that Billy got away. Madani is reprimanded for letting Frank go, despite her claims that he overpowered her and escaped. But ultimately she convinces them that they're better off not having Castle or Lieberman in custody since they have plenty to say about the agency's misdeeds. Lieberman reunites with his family in protective custody.

Billy snakes into Hoyle's house and takes him captive to lure Frank out. Frank begins shooting up the place with a sniper rifle and in the commotion Billy manages to land a shot in Hoyle's shoulder. Frank calls Hoyle, who passes Billy the phone so they can talk. The two agree to meet that night at midnight at the carousel where Frank's family died. Madani is able to trace Frank's phone to the carousel and decides to pursue him despite Hernandez and James ordering her not to take any further action besides writing up her report.

Frank arrives at the carousel and stakes it out, discovering that Billy has taken two young carnival-workers hostage, wounded them, and tied them up to the horses. Billy calls Frank and warns him that the two of them are bleeding out and it's up to Frank to save them. Frank and Billy begin to shoot at each other, eventually making it onto the carousel. Frank manages to shoot Billy in the cheek, but Billy threatens to shoot the kids if Frank doesn't come out. Billy begins to shoot at Frank but gets distracted by Madani showing up. Billy shoots her and Frank attacks Billy. The two fight viciously until Frank eventually manages to get the upper hand. Frank decides to not kill Billy, instead cutting up his face with glass so that he will have to live disfigured instead of having his pretty face to rely on.

Frank is taken into custody and is told that he's been given a pass to go free without being pursued by law enforcement. Madani and Russo are brought to the hospital with both surviving their injuries, though it may be some time before either can be active once more. Frank's freedom was also pushed along due to Madani's request. Now he has a new chance at life like never before. Russo is officially set to be reprimanded for his crimes, while Lieberman is freed and returned to his family. Finally, Frank decides to join Hoyle's support group for veterans.

Rawlins arrives at the base and begins to beat Frank, wanting to get his own revenge for the injury Frank inflicted on him many years ago on the mission. Later, Frank agrees to give Billy the information he needs to unlock the computer under the condition that Billy will be the one to kill him since Billy has promised to make it quick. Frank enters a code and his own retinal scan and then the computer is unlocked. The team will now be able to delete the information on the hard drives, not knowing that Lieberman has already copied everything and given it to Madani. Neither of them know that when Frank activated the scan that he'd be activating a security feed. After a certain period of time, Lieberman asks Madani for access to her computer and pulls up the security feed. Everything is being recorded, since Frank wanted to be the one to kill them but if he wasn't able to do tat he wanted to make sure there'd be enough evidence to put Rawlins and Billy away. Rawlins and Billy get into an argument and Billy says that he should've let Frank kill him in the tent. Billy goes over to Frank and holds his gun to Frank's head. Rawlins pulls his own gun on Billy and orders him to stand down instead of stopping him from killing Frank. What Rawlins doesn't know is that Billy has cut the ties keeping Frank's hands bound.

Rawlins injects Frank with adrenaline to rouse him out of his drowsy state. Rawlins prepares to cut one of Frank's eyes out as a quid-pro-quo for the eye Frank made him lose. But Frank is able to break free and stab and beat Rawlins to death while Billy stands back, watching. Frank's final move is to gauge both of Rawlins' eyes out with his thumbs. Billy is prepared to go through with his own personal mission of killing Frank to cover his tracks but Madani arrives in time to stop this, since Lieberman gave her the location of the base in order to see Frank.

May relays the information she learned, which is that the shard can be used by Flint in order to recreate the monolith that will allow them to travel back through time to where they came from. Tess declares that Kasius was the one to resurrect them and is a god they must serve. She relays his demands and threatens to detonate some explosive if they do not agree to his terms. The Punisher S01E10 "Virtue of the Vicious" Recap

Wilson kils a random man for access to his apartment in order to try to go after Senator Stan Ori. Ori is a strong anti-gun advocate in the midst of preparing a fundraiser for victims of the bombings. Ori hires Anvil to act as his personal security but Wilson still makes it past them to launch an attack on both him and Karen, who had been meeting with Ori at the same time. Castle arrives to fight off Wilson and even jumps in front of a bullet to protect Karen, though he remains unharmed from it due to wearing a protective vest.

Madani visits Rafael Hernandez, her superior, and shares all the information she has compiled. In turn, he tells her that all of the men from the warehouse were ex-Anvil. Madani visits the hotel to confront Russo about this revelation. This is the same hotel where the fundraiser is set to take place and Karen has met Ori for their interview.

Castle pursues Wilson through the hotel, as he's still holding Karen hostage while wearing an explosive belt. Wilson brings Karen into an elevator and Madani corners Frank in a stairwell. Billy finds them and tries to shoot Frank but the bullet only grazes the side of Frank's head. Frank hears Billy's voice as he talks with Madani, the ex-lovers now pointing guns at one another. Madani realises through this that Billy is the one that killed Stein. Some other law enforcement officers arrive and interrupt the stand-off, leaving Frank no time to fully process the revelation that his so-called friend had tried to shoot him. Frank escapes the agents and resumes his pursuit of Wilson and Karen.

Castle corners Wilson and Karen in the kitchen. He tries to convince Wilson to let Karen go while secretly telling her she need to pull the white wire on the device to disarm it. He continues to talk to Wilson while secretly communicating with Karen until she can grab the correct wire. When she finally manages to pull it she also grabs her gun to shoot Wilson in the foot. Wilson then locks himself in a freezer where Frank can't get into it. Wilson rearms the device and blows himself up. Frank pulls Karen away so the two are mostly stunned from the explosion with only a few new scratches to show from it. Frank's other wounds are from his fighting guards and pursuing Wilson through the hotel.

Karen pretends to be Frank's hostage so they can get away in an elevator, as there are armed guards waiting for them in the hallway. Castle escapes through the upper hatch in the elevator, and Karen gives her statement of the events (minus her aiding Castle's escape) to Detective Sgt. Brett Mahoney who was assigned to the case.

Some time later, the real Jenkins wakes at Jeff's residence and quickly determines that he and Jeff have switched bodies. Jenkins is berated by Jeff's mother, who wants him to perform his household chores, including feeding and tending to her many cats. Jenkins must catch a ride from Jeff's co-workers since Jeff's mother's car doesn't work.

Eve and the Librarians return to the Library and scold Jeff (as Jenkins) for not sending them to the precise location although they were able to solve their case regardless. Jenkins isn't able to get into the Library and when the team observes him on the security feed, they merely dismiss him as a crazy person. Jenkins returns to Jeff's home and with the help of Jeff's co-workers he discovers that Jeff had been an avid fan of the Librarians and even built a shrine to them. Jeff's co-workers are a group of techno-nerd and have been using the team names as Dungeon and Dragons characters. As Jenkins continues to talk to Jeff's co-workers, he determines that Jeff acquired a dangerous book which he used to switch bodies and recruits this group to help him work on getting back into the Library. They all believe him when he tells them the truth about who he is and how he ended up in Jeff's body. Jenkins trains the group and together they work on getting into the Library through a back door.

In the Library, the rest of the group grows increasingly suspicious of Jeff till he is forced to admit who he really is and how he was able to switch into the body of Jenkins. Jeff leads them to where he had left the book but they find that it has dissolved into slime, as it had been the prison of Asmodeus, Duke of Hell. Jeff using the book to switch bodies had weakened the spell binding him inside and now he is running amok in the Library searching for a particular gem he can use to full free himself.

Jenkins becomes discouraged but his new friends help him navigate through the various traps and challenges till they finally get all the way back into the Library. Jeff is saddened by the idea of having to go back to what he sees as a boring life but Jenkins advises him of the importance of returning to his body and that there is much to enjoy in life as a mortal. Together they realise that the gem Asmodeus is after isn't in the Library because Jeff had given it to his mother. They race back to Jeff's house and rescue Jeff's mother and defeat Asmodeus, who had already ran off after defeating the other Librarians.

After Jenkins and Jeff defeat Asmodeus, they find that they had switched back into their regular bodies. Jenkins decides to continue his friendship with the group and even becomes the Dungeon Master of Jeff's D&D group.

Black Lightning S01E02 "Lawanda: The Book of Hope" Recap

Jefferson promises Lynn that he was only acting as Black Lightning again in order to save their daughters and they begin the first steps of resuming their relationship. He attempts to assure the local parents that their children will be safe but is stunned to learn that the Seahorse Motel has been re-opened and the 100 are running prostitutes out of there. He has no real answer to offer when asked why Black Lightning would re-appear just to save his daughters when there are numerous other victims needing his help.

The 100 continue to make threats against Jefferson's daughters, as they are witnesses to the crimes of members. Jefferson visits Gambi to ask for his help in tracking down Lala by hacking the police's database. He then goes to confront Lala who refuses to back down since his daughters have been talking to the police. Lala recommends that he send his daughters on a long vacation or else they will do it.

Anissa's girlfriend offers to help her get a therapist to help her cope with the trauma of her abduction.

Will escapes police custody but ends up captured by 100 gang members and brought to Lala, who executes him for the mistakes he made that led to the current predicament the gang is in.

Jefferson is devastated when he learns a former student of his named Lawanda was killed by the 100 because she confronted them to try to get her daughter free from them. He makes an impassioned speech to Lynn about how he could've saved her and even now can save so many. He's not cut out to be 'normal' like everyone else and despite Lynn's protests that he's falling into an addiction for being a hero, he insists that it's a gift and blessing from God that he intends to use. Lynn later visits Gambi to try to get him to convince Jefferson to not be Black Lightning again but he refuses to do so.

Jefferson follows a lead from Will's recovered mobile phone to raid the hotel where Lala is hiding out. He beats him up as Black Lightning before being interrupted by the arrival of police officers. Jefferson gets away and Lala is brought in for questioning. Jefferson returns home and tells Lynn that now the hotel is truly shut down and the girls will be safe. Jefferson still seems to want to keep on his hero's journey, meaning Lynn is closing herself off from him once again.

Anissa uses her powers to stop a robber while out shopping.

Tobias uses his connections to infiltrate the police station and visits Lala in his cell where he strangles him using only one hand.

The Punisher S01E09 "Front Toward Enemy" Recap

Madani is still traumatised following the death of her partner, Stein, so her mother comes to look after her. Unbeknownst to her, Castle and Lieberman are watching her to try to determine whether she is not corrupt so they can inform her about Rawlins. During a stakeout, some of Wilson's bombs begin going off throughout the city. Several people are killed with many more being injured.

Wilson had chosen targets he perceived to be against guns, and explains his manifesto in a letter he sends to Karen Page in the hopes that she will advocate for his twisted cause against a system he despises. Wilson also hopes that Karen will publish his letter in the paper she works for. Instead, she denounces his actions in an article, which Castle reads and becomes concerned for her safety. He and Liberman listen in as she continues to disavow him on a radio interview during which Wilson calls in anonymously and makes threats against her. Castle recognises Wilson's voice, remembering having met him during a visit to Hoyle's support group, and tasks Lieberman with tracking Wilson's location.

Hoyle also heard the call and recognises Wilson's voice so he tries to go after him and stop him from hurting anyone else. Along the way, he finds the other support-group member, O'Connor, whom Wilson had murdered. When Hoyle finally finds Wilson and tries to stop him, the two get into a brutal fight in which Wilson beats Hoyle with his own fake leg and sets up another bomb on him.

Castle tracks down where to search for Wilson with the help of Lieberman but first calls Karen to check in and make sure she is safe. She deduces that he knows more about the bomber than he is telling her and tries to convince him not to act as a vigilante but Castle won't be swayed. He finds the wounded Hoyle, who has the bomb strapped on him, and gets a call from Wilson. Castle is eventually able to convince Wilson to disarm the bomb but not before he calls the police to the scene. Castle is pursued by officers and has his face caught on a security camera.

Lieberman approaches Madani and gives her information about Rawlins being corrupt and involved in the investigation she has going on. Meanwhile, the media reports on Castle being alive and accuse him of being the bomber.

The Punisher S01E08 "Cold Steel" Recap

Billy visits his mother in the psychiatric hospital where he keeps her tended to. When the nurse leaves them alone together he talks about the difficult week he's had and the old friend that's back in town (Frank Castle). He continues to vent and open up to her but eventually injects her with a drug that she is addicted to.

Castle and Lieberman identify Rawlins with the computer system. The cameras in Lieberman's home that he uses to monitor his family go down so he sends Castle to the house to find out what has happened to them.

Billy hooks up with Madani again and opens up to her about growing up in the foster system and his hard childhood.

Castle apologises to Lieberman's wife Sarah for missing the family dinner he had promised to come to. While they catch up, she shares how she disconnected the house's internet connection as a punishment for her son Zach's misbehaviour, which accounts for the surveillance cameras not working. Castle reconnects the internet and drinks with Sarah, after which she kisses him and they both admit that doing so was just a mistake. She asks Castle to help with Zach, making him realise that Zach needs a father figure to give him some stability and structure in his life. When Castle returns to Lieberman, the two get drunk together and exchange stories of how they met and got together with their wives. Castle later returns to help with Zach after Sarah tells him she found a knife in Zach's bag.

Since Madani found the bug in her office and is aware of some unknown enemy watching her, she releases fake plans to be found by them. Billy brings a team of mercenaries to a run-down warehouse because of the intel from this plan but they are quickly ambushed by agents from Homeland Security. The entire team is killed but Billy is able to get away without being seen by Madani, killing Stein along the way.
