New York Comic Con: Our Friday Picks!

With the New York Comic Con programming released, there are a number of excellent panels to consider adding to your schedule (which can be organised on the official New York Comic Con app). Here on MuseLed, we're going through each day's programming to hand-pick some of the most interesting options to consider checking out for yourself. These lists will focus on the panels, so make sure to check out the autographs, photo-ops, Artist Alley, and any other options that may be particular to your specific interests.

Friday Picks:

From the Stage to the Page: Musicians Creating Comic Books
10:30 - 11:30 PM, Room 1A24 - Javits Center

International producer/DJ and entrepreneur Steve Aoki, Hip Hop Legend Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, rock star Andy Biersack of the Black Veil Brides and alt-pop phenomenon Lights headline a panel discussing their transition from musicians to comic book creators, the creative process, personal comic fandom and details on projects debuting at 2018 New York Comic Con.

The panel will be moderated by SyFy’s Mike Avila Mike an Emmy Award-winning journalist who has covered comics, film and tv for more years than he cares to admit and hosts the comic book interview series “Behind The Panel.”

Two-time Grammy Nominated Producer/DJ Steve Aoki will be premiering NEON FUTURE, a new comic book series created in collaboration with Eisner Award winner Jim Krueger (DC Comics “Justice”, Marvel “Earth X”, “X-Men, “The Avengers”) and publisher Impact Theory. Krueger and the creative team worked closely with Aoki to develop the lead character “Kita Sovee” for the series. 

Hip hop pioneer and icon Darryl "DMC" McDaniels will reveal the latest news for Darryl Makes Comics.

Andy Biersack well known for his comic book fandom and storytelling through music as a solo artist as well as frontman for Black Veil Brides will unveil news about his new graphic novel project.

Award winning musician and comic artist Lights will tell us what it’s like to run a one-woman show, as the writer & illustrator of her interactive album-slash-comic book crossover project, Skin&Earth.

DreamWorks, Voltron Legendary Defender, a Netflix Original Series

Join executive producers Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery, story editor Josh Hamilton and voice actors as they look back on seven seasons of DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender and offer a sneak peek inside the final chapter arriving on Netflix later this year.

A Supernatural Panel with Mark Sheppard
11:00 - 12:00 PM, Room 1A06 - Javits Center

Crowley may have left the Supernatural realm, but their loss is NYCC’s gain. Mark Sheppard returns to the Javits with more stories of the crossroads and so much more from his amazing career appearing in so many of our favorite shows.

Mortal Engines
12:00 - 1:00 PM, The Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden

American Gods
1:30 - 2:30 PM, Hammerstein Ballroom - 311 W 34th St

The God Squad wants you! Join your favorite cast members and Executive Producer Neil Gaiman, for an exclusive first look as the battle continues between New Gods and Old in Season Two of the hit STARZ Original Series. “American Gods” is a one-hour drama adapted from Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name. Following the epic showdown at Easter’s party, Season Two ups the ante with Mr. World’s revenge plans and Technical Boy’s hunt for Media. Meanwhile, Mr. Wednesday continues his quest to pitch the case for war to the Old Gods with Shadow, Laura and Mad Sweeney in tow. Marvel's Runaways

Marvel’s Runaways is headed to Madison Square Garden, for the very first time, with an action-packed panel, Q&A and never-before-seen-footage. Join Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television, along with the cast and executive producer, as they let you in on what’s to come for the highly-anticipated Season Two of the Hulu Original Series, Marvel’s Runaways. You won’t want to miss this fun-filled event! And don’t forget all 13 episodes of Marvel’s Runaways Season Two will drop on December 21, 2018, only on Hulu.

Boy Meets World 25th Anniversary Reunion

Boy Meets World? More like Boy Meets NYCC! Come join Cory, Eric, and Topanga at the Javits! Feel the nostalgia as Ben Savage, Will Friedle, and Danielle Fishel reunite and reminisce on 25 years of Boy Meets World!

Netflix Presents: Big Mouth
4:00 - 5:00 PM, Room 1A06 - Javits Center

Get comfortable being uncomfortable with your favorite puberty-driven animated series Big Mouth! Join Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jessi Klein and Jason Mantzoukas, along with executive producers as they take on NYCC with an exclusive live read from a new episode of the highly-anticipated second season. Hilarity is sure to ensue as the show takes on all things borderline raunchy.

Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
4:15 - 5:15 PM, Main Stage 1D - Javits Center

Rise up! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are back in the next mutation of New York’s half-shell heroes. Join us as we celebrate the latest incarnation of The Turtles. Featuring Omar Miller (Ballers) as Raph, Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as Leo, Josh Brener (Silicon Valley) as Donnie, Brandon Smith (You’re the Worst) as Mikey, and Kat Graham (The Vampire Diaries) as April. Joining the cast are co-executive producers,Andy Suriano and Ant Ward, and legendary voice director Rob Paulsen. Panel highlights will include never-before-seen clips from the series, special guests and exclusive giveaways.

Netflix & Chills
7:30 - 9:30 PM, Main Stage 1D - Javits Center

The midnight hour is close at hand with Netflix’s Mega Block of chills, thrills, and everything else of the other-worldly variety. Join the casts of Umbrella Academy , The Haunting of Hill House and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as they descend upon New York Comic Con to discuss these highly anticipated new series. Plus, get a first look at The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance before anyone else. David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Alex Kingston (along with companion/host Aaron Sagers) will make you laugh, cry, and feel bigger on the inside with their tales from across space and time. All ages.
